Children
My daughter’s room is a disaster area. There is no other way to describe it, and there is no way around it. She has far too many children’s toys, and we have got to get rid of a lot of them before the holidays come along. Soon enough, there isn’t going to be enough room in there for her to sleep. All of the toys are distracting to her, and I just don’t have enough room for a toy room in our current home. I hope that will change one day, but for now, I just have to try to keep on top of the mess.
She no longer plays with most of the children’s toys that she has. For some reason, she just does not want to give them up. I guess I can understand this. I know that I have things I should probably part with, but I refuse to do so for whatever reason. I do have to get her to throw out some of her older children’s toys, and we will take the ones that are in good shape to our local Salvation Army so that someone else who does not have as much as we do can have some great toys to play with.
Though I have not yet started shopping for Christmas, my mother already has. My daughter has both her birthday and Christmas close together, so she gets a lot of children’s toys all at once. This is why we have such a big problem with them. My mother called me today to let me know what she bought my daughter so that I don’t go out and buy the same children’s toys as she got. I always make a list of what she really wants, and some of the things I want her to have, and I hand them out to family so there are no repeats. They call and tell me what they got, and I make sure I take that off of my list. It works well for us.
If you are shopping for children’s toys, and you aren’t sure what you should get, you might want to take a trip through the toy section and write down things you see that you think are interesting, or things you think your child might like. You can than casually talk about some of the children’s toys you saw while you were out, and see what your child says or does in reaction to each one. Remember that it is up to you what you buy, but you should always get a few things that they want, even if you don’t think they are educational.
